Chenin Blanc a Go Go!!

Oh where oh where can my Chenin Blanc be?

It’s the dog days of summer and we are melting and sweating with the beads of heat! We obviously need a chilled, cold glass of one of the finer grapes out of the Loire Valley, Anjou Saumur that is.

Domaine Du Roujou has just the Natural Wines for you!!!

Located in Anjou Saumur, Loire Valley on 17 hectares, this property is famous for its vineyards planted on white tufa. Brother and sister, Guillaume and Amandine work with the classic grape varietals; Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay, to make natural wines. The wines are marked by a strong mineral imprint of the limestone terroir which brings structure and elegance to the wines. Organically farmed. Each wine is vinified with indigenous wild yeasts and no added sulfur to let the terroir fully express itself. Very, very low intervention and because Amandine is sensitive to sulfur most of her wines have very little if none at all (for some wines very low sulfur is added at bottling or disgorgement to sustain it)

She’s got a chenin in a pét-nat, chenin in a still white, chenin in a skin contact and definitely at supper time.

Blanc en Bulles Pét-nat extra brut

30% Chenin Blanc, 70% chardonnay, Pale hue and golden color, on the nose aromatice with citrus flavors and the palate fine bubble(the c02 given off by the yeast is captured within the bottle giving the wine it's subtle fizz), well balanced with freshness and softness.

Cuveé Tuffeau, Saumur Chenin Blanc

100% Chenin Blanc,
aged sur lies for 8 months in concrete tanks, the color is pale yellow, on the nose aromatic white flowers, on the palate peach and white stone fruit.

Cuveé Maceration, Orange Wine, no sulfur added

100% Chenin Blanc, no sulfur added,
6 months maceration in sandstone amphora. The color is orange with yellow hues. On the nose; notes of candied fruits, bitter orange, pineapple and wet leaves. On the palate; a fresh mouthfeel with a hint of crisp, cleansing tannins on the finish.

Pick up all three today, I triple dare you!
